Spreaker API is coming to a geek near you. And why you shouldn’t be afraid.

Finally, we are releasing our Application Programming Interface! For those few of you who are not hardcore developers and geeks, this thing (usually called the “API”, geeks love acronyms!) is one of the coolest thing around these days; for it allows others (usually super cool geeks) to create new and exciting services built on top of our infrastructure. They could combine Spreaker with Google Maps and a coffee machine, just as an example.

But if you don’t like the idea of a rock’n’roll cup of flavored Java coffee, let us be more specific. Spreaker API will allow the creation of new services which could be able to use:

  • Voice recording and live broadcasting (to be released soon)
  • Show & Music aggregation into continuous playlists (think of Pandora for radio shows)
  • Metadata integration (while listening to the radio you can get all the info about a track, including Lyrics for example)
  • Social features (followers, listeners, comments, etc…)

Our API has been officially presented to the world at the first HackItaly event, held in Milan on February 5. And the winner of our first prize is now the proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy Tab, tablet PC, where he can use our DeeJay Console to create great shows on the move!
