Reverse Any Podcast’s Episode Order, Plus 3 Other Ways to Control Your Listening Experience

2

Easy, intuitive, and totally up to you. That’s exactly how you want your podcast listening experience to be: to find what you want easily, to not stumble through podcasts you’re uninterested in during your search, and to ultimately make the choices you want to make, even while you’re listening.

With Spreaker Podcast Radio, we’ve kept what you want in mind, every step of the way from the moment you open the app. A handy search bar and curated lists and channels pieced together with care get you to the podcasts you’re looking for quickly and painlessly—and things don’t stop when you press play. Even as you’re listening in you get to take charge of what flows through your ears.

Playback features allow you to listen to whatever you want, however way you want it. We’re happy to announce that you now have the ability to reverse any podcast’s episode order, as well as use the other great features already available on the app, like a playback speed toggle, a sleep timer, and notifications for your favorite episodes.

Great podcasts are easy to love, so why not make them easy to listen to? We know you’re fitting in your listening-time anywhere you can—like on the way to the movies or as you’re getting ready to go bed—so we’ve added a few extras to Spreaker Podcast Radio for both iOS and Android to facilitate things: introducing new playback settings!

Sometimes inconveniences like time restraints get in the way, but a great podcast listening experience means that time works around you, and not the other way around. Now, a new sleep timer and playback speed settings will help you manipulate those limits.

Nine Evolutions of Podcasting In 2017

1

Predicting the coming year of podcasting is a little more challenging than usual because, in my mind, the 13-year-old medium has been maturing very fast. Unfortunately, growth and innovation will be slow in coming this next year.

“It is true that podcasting’s best days are ahead and we do have many developing trends that will enable the medium to grow its creators and listeners.”

For a little perspective, the podcasting medium was a revolution when it began between 2004 through 2007.  Since then, podcasting has been chugging along at a slow, unrevolutionary but steady growth trajectory for many years.  It is true that podcasting awareness and listening grew a little faster over the past 2 years with the heightened media coverage of the reality and fictional storytelling podcasts.

Keep Your Audience Engaged with a Mobile App

3

Podcasting has never been a one-sided affair – your content was made for an audience that could listen in and fully engage with it. Once you hit publish, your focus shifts from your own content to those out there waiting for you, and that includes reaching new listeners as well as those that have been there all along.

A customized Mobile App dedicated to your show is a great way to distribute your podcast out to listeners, get them hooked, and keep them coming back. While it’s important to spread your content through as many channels as possible, you don’t want your relationship with your audience to spread thin. A Mobile App bridges that gap between you and them and keeps things direct; your listeners download the app that you branded and created yourself, and your content gets to their ears in no time.

How to Start Coding on Android If You’re an iGuy

If you care about users enjoying your service from their mobile devices, then you should ask yourself: is it enough or necessary to make an amazing responsive website to answer their needs? Probably not. So you go ahead and build a great iOS app version of the website. But is that enough?

Well, not exactly, since there are currently more Android than iOS devices out there in the world, so it’s much more sensible to release an Android app even before creating one for iOS. All this summarizes the main reasons why I decided that I needed to learn how to build an Android app. Plus it forced me work from a different perspective, allowing me to grow my knowledge as a developer so much that I decided to apply what I learned back to our iOS development.

And so, the journey begins

What gets an app featured on Google Play?

1

Spreaker launched in 2010 as a product available only on the web, used mainly on desktop computers. But with the subsequent rise in popularity of smartphones and tablets, users wanted to also enjoy a similar experience on their mobile devices.

We released our official Spreaker Android app in September 2013, allowing our users to listen to their favorite podcasts, enjoy live streaming, and even create their own live and pre-recorded content. This has been a great source of feedback from our existing users as well as new ones.

As time passed, we realized that having one single app for both listeners and producers was actually an obstacle in giving a great experience for these two very different types of users. So in September 2014 Spreaker Studio for Android was born: a brand new app totally focused on content creators where you can broadcast live or record your episodes. Its interface allows you to mix voice, audio tracks, and multiple sound effects, as well as access statistics and manage shows and episodes.

How did getting featured actually happen?
