Introducing Spreaker’s Revenue Sharing Program

0

You have to be passionate to podcast. To get a great show up and running you need to invest time, and sometimes even money, into the tech, show production, branding, and marketing. While connecting with audiences can be a reward in itself, wouldn’t it be great to get some monetary returns as well?

Unfortunately, agencies and sponsors are not the easiest to come by. Great podcasts are too often overlooked for big productions backed by even bigger networks. It’s hard to get recognition when you’re competing with well-funded production machines.

But we at Spreaker believe your podcast is worth the chance – why can’t monetizing be easy, and accessible to everyone? And so, we’re excited to introduce our new Revenue Sharing Program! It’s an easy opt-in program where podcasters can earn money for every listen, or impression, they get.

How does it work?

Spreaker’s program is set up as an Ad Revenue Sharing program, meaning that you earn money for ads that are placed throughout your content. More specifically, it works like this:

Audio and visual ads provided by our partners will get automatically placed throughout your episodes at different intervals (at this beta stage we only support ads as pre-rolls). These ads will be determined by location, so that your listeners will only ever hear ads that pertain to them (New Yorkers will only ever hear ads by companies accessible to them, for example). Every time an ad gets an impression, meaning that it was listened to or viewed by your audience, you’ll earn a specific amount of money. In Spreaker’s case, you’ll get 60-65% per CPM (1000 impressions), depending on a variety of factors, like who is providing the ad.

Ads will be either audio or visual, and will appear across embedded players and Spreaker Podcast Radio for Android and iOS. Each ad will run for at most 30 seconds, and disappear as soon as it’s over. Visual ads will look something like this:

The Ad Revenue Sharing Program is currently in beta, and will evolve as time goes on — the more podcasters join, the better we can refine it. In fact, we already have some improvements on the way, like ad flexibility, meaning you can insert ads at specific points through your episode, extended ad plays to third-party platforms, and an increase in CPM throughout 2017.

Join Spreaker’s Revenue Sharing Program

Normally, setting up any kind of revenue share requires jumping through administrative hoops and drawing special agreements that don’t always work in your favor.

We’re doing away with all that by providing a simple opt-in program that only takes a few minutes to join. All it takes is

  1. Accessing the CMS
  2. Going to Monetization in the Main Menu
  3. Reading and accepting the Terms and Conditions
  4. Clicking on Apply

And that’s it! The Revenue Sharing Program will immediately begin to run on all your shows (provided they meet the necessary legal and quality requirements). If you have shows on your account that you’d like to keep ad-free, you can always disable them from the program at any time.

To make sure your payments go through once you start generating revenue, you’ll have to add your bank account and tax information into your account. Your tax information can be uploaded as a completed W-9 tax form. Keep in mind that payments will be made only once you’ve earned over $10, and they’ll be paid directly into your bank account on a monthly basis.

Furthermore, from the Dashboard you can keep an eye on your payments with the handy Impressions & Earnings Report chart, as well as what you’ve been paid so far with your Payment History.
