This February 8th-10th, Orlando, Florida will be taken over by Podfest Multimedia Expo. A conference created for independent podcasters (from beginners to veterans) by podcasters, with the aim of building and developing an international podcast community through networking, events and exchanging of ideas. This year is the event’s fourth year and will see over one thousand content creators flock to find out what’s hot and what’s not in the podcasting world.
During the course of the three days, six key topics, or ‘tracks’, will be the umbrella themes for all panels and discussions, this year’s are: Monetization, Multimedia, Technology, Audience Building, Entrepreneur, and Social. To really get under the skin of these topics, there will be events of all varieties, ranging from demos of the latest products and services to workshops and panels. All will be followed by a Q&A.
So, having carefully studied the programme, we wanted to share with you our highlights for the event:
February 8th – Workshops to Develop Your Podcast Community
To get things started we would pick from the following workshops:
YouTube Workshop – ‘Learn How to Scale Your Subscriber Base in the Age of Video Content’
YouTube’s power as a communication tool is undeniable and this workshop will examine how to create strategies on growing your subscriber base. The discussion will be led by a group of YouTube influencers and with limited places available we would recommended reserving your spot so you don’t miss out!
Boss Lady Workshop
Katie Krimitsos of Biz Women Rock! and Jessica Kupferman of ShePodcasts have both built extremely successful podcasts, businesses and online communities and they’ll be delving into how they did it. A must for any female (or anyone for that matter!) looking to learn from two podcasting powerhouses.
Podcast Launch and Grow Workshop
Got a podcast idea you’re keen to get off the ground? Then this session’s for you. Five expert podcasters give their insights into how to start and grow a successful show. Learn how to plan, strategize and gain an understanding of what will differentiate your podcast from others.
To round off the day why not attend the Live Storytelling event with Drew Ackerman of Sleep with Me.
Sleep With Me, has literally become a sleeper podcasting hit! With roughly 1.3 million downloads each month and the podcast making it to iTunes top 50 podcasts, this show has been a surprise knockout. In an age of increasing sleep issues, Ackerman (himself an insomnia sufferer) uses his podcast to talk listeners to sleep with his own version of a bedtime story. Each week three, 1-2 hour podcasts are released of winding, meandering stories which turn back on themselves and are ultimately without much sense or direction but make for strangely addictive listening. Head down to find out what all the fuss is about.
February 9th – Learn how to: monetize, promote, be a podcast guest and much more!
On the second day you’ll get into the heart of the event and of the industry’s major topics. From dawn to lunch the day is jam-packed with activities.
