Podcasting’s momentum has been continuously building up over the past 10 years, attracting creatives and audio content nerds alike, culminating in the success it is today. What better example of the heights it has reached than Podcast Movement, the now annual podcasting event, with this year’s second ever gathering taking place from July 31st to August 2nd. Past, present, and future podcasters will converge in Fort Worth for two packed days and nights – and Spreaker is proud to announce that we are both sponsoring the event as well as attending!
We just love broadcasting, don’t we? And we also like taking selfies of ourselves, while eating, running, chilling out with friends…but what about when we’re on the air?
We’re pretty sure that you’re already capturing those moments during your live or recorded sessions, so why don’t you start sharing them?
New Media Expo has just turned off its lights on another successful year, and it was great to be there! We couldn’t be happier about all the feedback we received, or more thrilled over our own Rob Greenlee’s amazing live stream from Spreaker’s NAB booth.
We met tons of people, got all the latest on the podcasting industry, and enjoyed Las Vegas’ beautiful atmosphere.
New Media Expo is just around the corner, and we are thrilled to take part in the global conversation on the latest podcasting trends.
This year more than 5,000 media and entertainment professionals will attend NMX, and 97,000 TV broadcast and radio professionals are expected at NAB.
If you plan to be in Las Vegas, come visit us at Booth #N8016, where we’ll be pleased to welcome you and work on new collaborative opportunities.
If you can’t be there, don’t be sad, we’ve already got it covered and will set up a live stream that will keep you updated on all the latest from the podcasting experts.
Starting from today, tune in to Spreaker Live from NMX as we host some of the top names in digital media and podcasting, including:
RadioDaysEurope is the annual conference for radio professionals from all around the World, and this year it’s taking place in Milan, from March 15th-17th.
Milan will be functioning as the meeting point of the entire European radio industry, with more than 1300 participants from 60 different countries coming together. We’re excited to go and present our product, and establish important connections.
First held in 1987, The South by Southwest Music Conference and Festival was a way for local artists in Austin, Texas to reach out to the rest of the world and touch base with the music industry.
Since then, SXSW has become an internationally acclaimed event, known for keeping its finger on the pulse of what’s happening and what’s coming up in the music industry. Its vision has only gotten wider with time, now showcasing film and technology as well with the additions of SXSW Film and SXSW Interactive. Annually transforming itself into a hotbed of fresh talent, Austin has become the place to go to keep on the forefront of contemporary culture.
This year, Spreaker will be there, too, scoping out the scene. We’re excited to be catching artists like Spoon and TV on the Radio, discover budding directors, and most importantly, take in the latest in apps, media, and tech.
Keep up with all our moves by following us on Twitter @spreaker during the event, kicking off on March 13th. If you’re attending, drop us a line below – we want to meet you!

Ever the showman, Kanye West has been debuting his new single, ‘New Slaves,’ by projecting his own singing visage onto buildings in cities around the world. The performance is eerie and striking, and has taken over more than 66 different locations.
The move comes in anticipation of his new album, Yeezus, due out on June 18th. The track ‘Black Skinhead‘ was also debuted alongisde of ‘New Slaves’ on Saturday Night Live just two weekends ago.
We are very happy this week to be a part and main sponsor of Friday at six, the monthly event for start-up entrepreneurs, taking place today at our office here at MakeaStartUp in Friedelstrasse 27 at 8 pm.
We had a great chat yesterday with Derk Marseille, the organizer of the event, who gave us a few highlights on what will be going on.
8 tech interviews, along with live music by shonabrammusic.com, will be at the heart of the event.
Within the hour, CEOs and entrepreneurs will take the stage:
- Philipp Hartmann, VC at Rheingau Founders.
- Christin Friedrich, Innovestment
- Christoph Raethke, Berlin Startup Academy
- Erik Heinelt, Founder of Tirendo
- Francesco Baschieri, CEO at Spreaker.
- Nathan Williams, Startup Camp Berlin
- Kerstin Bock, Tonka PR
It’s a great panel, and they’ll be discussing the startup ecosystem in Berlin, which entrepreneurs come, and why and what are the real opportunities that can be found in the German capital. Our CEO Francesco Baschieri will join the discussion, telling us about his lengthy experience as an entrepreneur from his long stay in Silicon Valley, where he saw the quick growth of monsters such as Facebook and Twitter, to his decision to move Spreaker’s team to Berlin; and why it’s so important to get into the startup community.
We are really happy to assist in the debate about the future of the German Startup Association with Erik Heinelt, as well as join in the conversation with Christoph Raethke, talking about startups from a legal perspective and analyzing the best steps to take – a new topic up for debate in the startup scene.
Friday at Six has become the event that those who want to begin a startup in Berlin just can’t miss, and Derk himself is happy with its results: “As an organizer, I started this event in August 2011 to create networking opportunities for startuppers in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The event has grown so much; at the beginning we had ten visitors, now I’m really proud to announce that we registered 250 tickets two days before the event. This is proof that the ecosystem is growing, and Spreaker can add a huge value to this with its experience in Silicon Valley. I’m curious to find out if Spreaker will receive any funding in the USA”.
Hot topics of the startup scene together with live music and good vibes, these are the ingredients of the next @fridayatsix. See you there!
UNESCO has proclamed this festivity to celebrate Radio as a medium; to improve international cooperation between broadcaster; and to encourage major networks and community radio alike to promote access to information and freedom of expression over the airwaves.
We at Spreaker want to strongly promote the same ideals, to push the use of radio as a medium that reaches the widest audience worldwide, and help people engage in discussions and hot topics all over.
Just as UNESCO has stated, we want to encourage all countries to celebrate World Radio Day by planning activities in partnership with regional, national, and international broadcasters.
Follow #WorldRadioday, and record your own audio content in order to take part in the conversation all over the globe.
