Brian is a true believer in fresh ideas and free thinking, and he channels his love for inventions and entrepreneurship through Got Invention Radio. We spoke to him about his passion and how his podcast has grown since 2009 in our weekly installment of DtC:
How soon in your life did you start inventing things?
I realize now, when I was younger, pre-teen, that I was always taking things apart to see how things were made and worked- I thought I was being destructive, but now see it as I was being creative. I was always aware of things that could be done better or different, but it was when I got married and had a child that I started to take things seriously with my inventions. The focus was seeing what they were doing and coming up with ideas to make things easier and better.
Out of all your inventions, which ones are your favorites?
It’s hard to answer this question… it’s almost like asking which child is your favorite… they all have a special place in my heart!
Fair answer! How did you find Spreaker?
I read an article on the funding that Spreaker received, and then when I researched it further I discovered that it was a great platform to run and grow my show with all the support and resources needed to continue to have a great show and make my audience of listeners have a great experience.
What do you like most about using Spreaker?
I appreciate the time and resources that have been put into Spreaker to make it easy for the host (me) and also for the listeners to navigate, listen to the shows live or download anytime.
How did Got Invention Radio come to be?
I wanted to get great information to the inventors and entrepreneurs. I wanted it to be a great resource for inventors to know that the information can help them keep moving forward with their inventions or ideas. I have had the honor of interviewing over 125 guests on my show and many of them are high profile people that shared their experiences and information first hand to our listeners!
Fantastic! Do you use Spreaker’s interactive features to chat with your fans?
I just started to use it and it’s very good to be able to let the listeners know that they can either chat with me, or let me know what question they want me to ask the guest during the live show.
Which inventor inspires you?
I am really not being politically correct answering this question… I really feel that anyone that wants to make something better or invent something that may not exist is inspiring enough for me. We have to keep things new and fresh all the time and see things from a different perspective – that’s being aware of your environment and all that goes on around you all the time.
I enjoy following start-up companies and thought leaders of all industries and learning what made them successful and what lessons they learned along the way. It helps me to see things from different prospectives, of how people make decisions and what direction they took their business or idea.
Which new inventor and/or entrepreneur do you see succeeding?
So many inventors have come to me with such great ideas… I wish them all the best and hope their dreams come true of seeing their ideas commercialized! I personally have 10 products launching within the next 6-8 months and am very excited to see my products in retail and on TV, and to be able to have people share their experiences using the products for the reasons I invented it!
Where would you like the podcast to take you (personally or professionally)?
I’ve been hosting this radio show since 2009 and it has been tons of fun. I have had the opportunity to meet so many inspiring and successful inventors and resources, and I am always “thinking” of new ways to get the show and its message out to as many people as possible– so however that can happen is another possibility. I have also been approached a few times in the past year to host a TV show for inventors called Got Invention TV and I am still waiting for the right production company to connect with.
That’s amazing, and we wish the best of luck to you and the TV show! Keep up the great work!
