This week we spoke to Randy of Real Men Stay Fit about podcasting, and bringing his own experience with getting back in shape to the airwaves. Plus learn about The Hunger Project, and how you can get involved:
Do you mind introducing yourself?
My name is Randy Resnick, I have been a musician much of my life. I don’t like to exercise per se, but I do walk a lot every day.
We understand you completely. When and how did you get into fitness?
At one point in my life, I saw a photo of myself next my my teen-aged niece, and we looked like Laurel and Hardy, she’s slim and adorable and I was pot-bellied.
When and why did podcasting come into the equation?
I have been podcasting for at least 5 years. It’s a great way to reach people. I myself listen to podcasts during travel or at night when reading isn’t an option.
Our favorite hobby, too. What are common misconceptions about staying in shape? Want to debunk any myths?
There are so many. One common one is counting calories. Calories give a general idea of what your intake is, but they rarely help you lose weight or stay fit.
What have been your favorite success stories?
Randal Schwartz has been actively promoting his low carb high fat diet and has lost a lot of weight, as I have using different methods, which I have put in a book called Real Men Stay Fit, available on Amazon for $2.99. ALL of the sales of this book go to The Hunger Project. I hope readers will consider buying the book.
It’s a list of over 100 tips they can try for themselves. Worst case, they’ve donated the revenue from the book, about $2 to The Hunger Project.
Great initiative, people should definitely get on it! So, why Spreaker?
I like how easy it is to update and broadcast, and its connectivity to social media.
What do you hope listeners can get out of the show?
I hope they will start thinking for themselves about their lifestyle. My philosophy is to find what works for you by experimentation, not to blindly follow the latest, best-selling diet book.
Great point. How else are you spreading the word? Through social networking?
Has this podcast helped you personally or professionally?
All podcasting is gratifying because you are reaching out to people all over the world. Spreaker makes this incredibly easy.
Anything else you’d like to share?
We will! Thanks Randy!
