Alessandro is one of our talented developers here at Spreaker, the man behind the new and improved iOS and Android apps. He took part in this week’s version of Meet the Team.
Hi Alex! Thank you for doing this interview with us and taking time out of your busy schedule. How are you?
Yesterday my dog, Luna, hurt my left shoulder while I was taking her for a walk… but I’m fine, thanks!
Oh no, so sorry to hear! Well, first, can you introduce yourself and let us know what you do at Spreaker?
Of course! My name is Alessandro, I’m 26 years old, and I come from Venice, Italy. I’m the mobile developer here at Spreaker, the iGuy :).
How did you start your job at Spreaker?
In the early days of Spreaker, a friend of mine had created a show (Sunday Night Fever) with his friends, and I would listen to them thinking “there’s no Spreaker mobile app? I can’t believe it! I have to do something about that.” A couple of emails later, I became a part of the Spreaker family, working on their first version of the iOS app.
And you did such a great job! Which Spreaker feature do you like the most?
It might sound obvious, but what I like most on Spreaker is the mobile app, both the iOS and Android versions. They allow you to listen and create audio content anywhere – you could be walking around the city, or in a train. It’s simple and tiny, but powerful and fun all at the same time!
But my favorite feature is the one we’re actually about to come out with – and no, I can’t tell you anything about it or it’ll be my head ;)!
Oh, secrets! Can you give us a few reasons why it’s great working at Spreaker?
You never get bored here! There are always things to do, discuss, and develop. Spreaker is very dynamic, feels like a team, and full of fools like me! :).
Any fun memories that you’d like to share?
While running the first tests on the recording feature of our mobile app, I would listen to episodes made by my colleagues. They would talk to me, not only about how the app was working, but also about what they were doing in the office, what they ate for lunch, or what was happening out the window – often mixing in some questionable language that I can’t repeat here. It was really funny :).
Sounds like how they would act. What are your favorite podcasts on Spreaker?
What drives you crazy?
I call them “Sunday drivers,” and they’re people who think they’re the only ones on the road. They’re slow, they constantly look out the window, but never at the road, and they brake randomly for no reason… they’re dangerous! You can sometimes recognize them with their hats on, in the car! That’s a bad sign guys! Stay away from them! Basically they have no driving experience because, as their name states, they drive only one day a week. They drive me crazy!
Lastly, where can we find you on the internet?
The simplest way is through Twitter, follow me at @DrAL3X.
