Meet the Team Volume 8 #Ced

Our Front End Developer loves his job, and isn’t shy about divulging his passion for comics and music. Meet Marco (we usually call him Ced) the man of the hour in this week’s feature of Meet the Team!

Hi Ced! Thank you for doing this interview with us and taking time out of your busy schedule. How are you?

Fine and running, thanks. Spreaker is growing fast and there’s a lot to do.

Can you introduce yourself and let us know what you do at Spreaker?

I’m Marco, I write HTML code for food, and that’s what I do at Spreaker. To tell you the truth, I do more than that: I am a Frontend Developer, I work side by side with Marco Pracucci and Rocco in making the website faster, more usable, and work better. To sum up my role in the team: I’m the guy to blame if our service seems broken. I live in Bologna with my partner and our two kids, and in my spare time I like to share what I’ve learned by organizing and speaking in Front End Conferences.

We don’t plan on letting you starve anytime soon. How did you start your job at Spreaker?

I met Rocco at a dev meet up, and we chatted a while about nerd stuff (Javascript and test driven development). After a few weeks he asked me if I would consider joining him at Spreaker. At first it had not been an easy choice: I was working with a large e-commerce corporation and my job was nice, but after 5 years there I felt like I needed to Rock’n’Roll. I don’t regret it at all.

Rock’n’Roll is the perfect way to put it. Which Spreaker feature do you like the most?

I love the ability to stream what I’m listening to on my Mac with Nicecast.

Can you give us a few reasons why it’s great working at Spreaker?

Ever since my first day at Spreaker, I’m always learning new stuff even if I have years of experience in my field. I love it: working at Spreaker is challenging as a developer, and I don’t like jobs where I cannot learn.

Do you have any fun memories that you would like to share?

The dev team used to play darts during our lunch break. We keep the scores logged so we can choose the playing order for the next game. I usually work from home, so when I’m at dev headquarters I’m always the last one playing (that’s bad because the winner is first to earn points). Today I found out they changed the rules: now everyone throws one dart at the start of every game to define the playing order. I don’t have any excuses anymore.

Oh no! Practice makes perfect. What are your favourite podcasts on Spreaker?

I don’t really have a favorite: I listen to almost everything while working. I do like the music on Cloud and Roba Da Rocker.

What are you crazy about?

My kids and mate, music and comics.

Where can we find you on the internet?

You can find me as cedmax on almost every social network (twitter, facebook…) or you can head to my website and reach me everywhere. is the website of the conference I organize.

Thanks again Ced!
