As most of you know, Spreaker‘s teammates work remotely, connecting from 5 different countries and three different time zones. This means lots of emails, Skype calls, Google Hangouts, Slack channels, and one retreat a year when we can finally get together to have face to face meetings and brain storming sessions.
And it’s finally that time again; we’re about to set off on our retreat in Barcelona, from December 9th until the 14th, to work cheek to cheek!
Here’s our schedule:
Working Space: We’ve chosen to work from the Talent Garden hub in Barcelona, one of the many Talent Garden offices around Europe, including the Lithuania hub where our UI/UX designer Brigita already works.
Presentations: We’ll be working two full days, Thursday and Friday, dedicating time to individually present specific topics we care about to the team. We’ve had total freedom choosing these topics, and here’s what’s coming up: Francesco, our CEO will open the show with his session on Goals and aims for 2016, Marco, our CTO, will give us some tips on how to best use Slack with Slack ten tips in ten minutes. Rocco will run the session One tomato to rule them all, offering a basic time-management technique on how to work with time, instead of struggling against it. I personally will be focused on the communication side with a session on Internal communication: how to learn from our mistakes. The creative Brigita will do a UX workshop, and Lele, the man behind the new desktop app, will give us a rundown of his first six months at Spreaker (which I’m particularly looking forward to).
PlayTime: A good retreat has to include playtime, and we’ll be sure to have some on Saturday afternoon after a long walk and photoshoot on the beach. Thanks to Anna‘s suggestion we’ll play the Escape Hunt game The Vampires of Barcelona.
Podcasting Community Meeting: After the game it’s time to meet our podcasters in Barcelona. We’ve organized a casual meet-up with the help of Sunne, a superhero in the Spanish community and supporter of PodnightsBarcelona. Our team will meet the community, have some beers and tapas, and discuss podcasting and Spreaker. The event is open to everyone and we’ll be glad to see you there, so please check out the information here and join us.
