What’s going on with Spreaker’s listeners?

Last November we published an infographic with the aim of helping you understand your Spreaker audience and better engage with your listeners, plus give you the upper hand with new data that can be used to monetize your content.

After 6 months we want to give you an update on who’s listening to your content on Spreaker.


What first catches attention is the increased average TSL: 28 minutes against the 25 minutes in November, with a growing trend in terms of Total Listening Time for on-demand content. This data reflects what was recently stated in the Washington Post: “in the last 5 years, the average number of unique monthly podcast listeners has tripled from 25 million to 75 million”.

The numbers of podcast listeners has tremendously increased, and along with that the time they spend listening to audio content.

One user listens to on average 34 minutes of LIVE streaming and 25 minutes of on demand content. So live streaming is more engaging, but it seems to have less power on the web.

72% of the Total Time Spent Listening refers to On-Demand content, as listeners prefer to get an on-demand experience rather than a live one.

We’ve also experienced a bit of an increase in women on our platform: just 1% more, but still a change that may anticipate the total split of men and women in terms of podcast listeners stated by Edison Research.

The United States keeps its first place standing in Spreaker’s community, followed by Italy for TSL and number of plays, and then by Spain for number of downloads.
