Spreaker Enterprise Users Can Now Exclude Ad Categories

When we launched Spreaker Enterprise in January, we had one goal in-mind: Create the ultimate podcast solution for big editorial teams like media publishers and content networks so they can effortlessly manage their audio advertising operations and publishing workflow.

Part of the solution’s appeal is the user-friendly dynamic ad insertion function that allows our podcasters and publishers to focus on where ads should appear (down to the precise millisecond), and then we take care of the rest

Apple Podcasts Category Changes Explained

Apple announced at the WWDC 2019 in early June that they would be updating how they categorize podcasts, with the aim of making podcasts more discoverable. To date, it hasn’t been confirmed precisely when these new categories will appear on Apple Podcasts, however, we wanted to summarize exactly what we do know and look at what you need to do now in order to be compliant with the new categories.

So, what sort of changes do Apple Podcasts have lined up? Well, lots! So far we know that True Crime will be added as a totally new category, Games & Hobbies will be rebranded as Leisure, History will become a stand-alone category and tons of subcategories will be added – for example, each sport will be getting its own channel. This gives you the opportunity to get nice and specific with how you classify your podcast.

A Complete Guide to Adding the Perfect Music and Sound Effects to Your Podcast

Music and sound are a simple yet effective way to help create an even more engaging podcast for your listeners. Using music in podcasts has the ability to define your podcast’s tone, make it instantly recognizable and are an effective way to create a heightened audio experience for your audience. With this in mind, we want to look at the ways different podcasters have used music and sound throughout their content with serious impact.

MUSIC: Where’s best to add it?

As a podcaster, you have three options of where to add music, at the beginning or end as a sort of title/credits music, to divide podcast segments and as interview background music.

  • Intro / Outro

Your podcast intro is the most important audio element you’ll ever create for your podcast; it’s the first thing potential new listeners hear. The first thing to consider is that your intro, or pre-roll, should be made with your audience at the forefront of your mind – making sure to immediately communicate just what your podcast’s about.

Forbes underlines its importance: “It’s the first piece of audio that the listener is going to hear, so it’s important to solidify a distinct mood and sound to represent that particular podcast or song.”
